About Dr. Achu

Dr. Achu was born and raised in Cameroon, West Africa. He later moved to the USA and attended college at Minnesota State University, Mankato where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry (Magna Cum Laude Honors) in 2007. After graduation, he worked for Mayo Clinic Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology; Molecular Genetics Laboratory from 2007-2009 before starting Medical School. He eventually graduated from St. George's University School of Medicine in 2013, after which he completed Internal Medicine Residency training at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey. He further pursued fellowship training in Cardiovascular disease at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York from 2017-2020, after which he completed an extra fellowship year of fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology in June 2021.

He also has further experience practicing Cardiology, and Internal Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx NY, Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn NY, and St John's Episcopal Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY, where he served in a role of Clinical Teaching Attending Physician for Internal Medicine Interns and Residents.

Dr. Achu enjoys practicing General Cardiology, as well as Interventional Cardiology. He is very passionate about healthcare, healthy living and lifestyle choices, as well as patient education.

In his free time, he enjoys playing musical instruments, outdoors, sports (soccer, tennis, basketball), and horses. He also has a passion for helping disadvantaged people/communities both locally and internationally and is involved in several of such projects.
