My dear sweet favorite doctor in the whole wide world,
How do you say thank you to someone that has saved your life? I don't know that I can. Today (October 18, 2018) marks one year since you saved my life. Little did we know when we stopped to get gas at the Shell station down the street from Conroe Regional Hospital the journey we were about to embark on! In the length of time it took David to put the gas noule in the car, I had a major heart attack. He saw me collapse, jumped in the car an had me at the Emergency room door in less than 3 minutes. My last thoughts were how sad it made me to think I was not going to be able to watch my oldest grandson swim in college and that my youngest grandson would only know me through photos and what would David do without me, I'm supposed to be the one taking care of him in our old agel While I was wheeled into the Cath lab, you were called to attend to me. I don't remember much from the week after you put 2 stents in my heart. I do know that you prayed with me before the procedure. My next memory was of the Life Flight ride, for some reason I was afraid I was going to fall out of the helicopter! It wasn't until much later I learned that you called Dr. David Ott in Houston and ask him to review my case. Dr. Leo Simpson did the additional 2 stents in a piggy-back fashion.
My daughter discovered you not only had a busy practice but were accepting patients and took my insurance! Yippie, I could continue my healing journey with you! Because of your exceptional care, knowledge and attention to detail I have become one of the 7% that recover from a widow maker heart attack. Two things have been instrumental in my recovery this year. The first one is something you said to me, you said to let you know any time something didn't feel right." And I have, probably more than you expected! The second is what I remember telling you, that I would do whatever you ask of me. I gave up meat, salt and am trying hard to become a Vegan, I've lost 30 pounds and am exercising 3 days a week. We make a good team.
This past year I have been able to celebrate my oldest grandson turning 16 and learning to drive, my oldest granddaughter became a teenager, I watched another granddaughter swim in her first competition, my youngest granddaughter danced at her first football game as a member of the 7. drill team. My youngest grandson learned to talk and calls me Mawmawl David and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary, we rejoiced when one son was named Vice President of operations for his company. Our son-in-law was promoted to Lieutenant in the Dallas Fire Department. We' enjoyed two family reunions, several weddings and countless birthdays, all because you saved my life a year ago today. How do you begin to say thank you....I don't know that I can. When I tell people of my incredible journey this past year, you are always the hero and I am always...your favorite patient.
